Via Mala

The lowest alpine village in Europe! This traditional restaurant is located in the main building and consists of an entire underground village with nine fairytale-like houses, each of them truly cosy and with traditional rooms.

Here you can enjoy the renowned cheese spaetzle or the "Via Mala Reindl" or a tasty onion roast.

Take a few steps down, follow the bend and suddenly an alpine village in its original beauty opens up in front of your eyes: The traditional "Stube" rooms are modelled like the old farm of the sawmill, the walls from real gray glacier stones with water runlets flowing down and turning into a river once they reach the ground.

This quiet rivulet however turns into a wild river once the waterfall in the air swells up and empties itself in a powerful way and a thunderstorm shows up on the sky and jolts the quiet life of visitors with its noise.  Enjoy unforgettable hours in the "Via Mala" adventure restaurant.

Cooking on behalf of extraordinary traditions: this is Uwe Werfel's area, chef in the "Via Mala" restaurant. His creative vein and his love of ancient traditions provide you with culinary delights of "past times"! The show-kitchen in the village centre is a renowned meeting point where you can peep over Mr. Werfel's shoulders. He will be pleased to provide you with tips and tricks to refine simple dishes and to make tasty dishes even tastier.

Our certified sommelier Sabine Weisenhorn will be at your disposal for wine tasting sessions in the Via Mala winebar. (according to weekly programme or advance reservation)
